In 2020, while employed by Rocky View County, their Business & Economic Development department put together an Economic Recovery Plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The plan outlined the County’s strategy for supporting existing businesses and attracting new investment, with timelines and actionable steps for County-wide implementation. I was responsible for designing the 40-page publication, establishing the layout, style, and formatting as well as selecting and editing all imagery, while adhering to the County’s branding guidelines and visual aesthetic.
Built in Adobe InDesign with photo editing in Photoshop, the report focused on clear, text-driven presentation, incorporating sidebars, “Fast Facts,” and tables for each strategic step to highlight strategies, partners, and timelines. Key design challenges included sourcing appropriate images, visually separating strategy tables from body text, and maintaining a clean, open layout using white space to reflect the County’s business-friendly environment.
The final plan was published online as a PDF and printed for distribution at County Hall, as well as provided to the Economic Development team for meetings with local businesses.
