During my time at Rocky View County, I designed three hiring campaigns for the County’s Fire Services department, aimed at recruiting paid-per-call fire fighters within limited geographic distances from specific fire stations. Each campaign featured refreshed artwork, including print ads in the local newspaper, web banners, and social media posts.
Following County and Fire Services branding guidelines, I used sub-brand colours from the Fire Services badges and uniforms, plus “hot” accent colours to relate a fire aesthetic. Stock photography was sourced and adapted, with a focus on showing female firefighters in later campaigns to encourage broader participation and highlight diversity. Materials were built in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop.
Key challenges included sourcing suitable stock images and accommodating multiple formats while maintaining visual consistency. All messaging and imagery were approved by Fire Services prior to release. While geographic restrictions limited the number of qualified applicants, the campaigns successfully raised awareness of the volunteer program and met Fire Services’ visual and branding objectives.
