Metak Distributing & Vatra Services Logos

Metak Distributing Ltd specializes in arms and ammunition distribution, working primarily with government agencies, consulates, and law enforcement. I was commissioned to design a logo and business card system that would resonate with this highly specific audience while avoiding the overly aggressive or generic visual language common in the industry. The resulting identity needed to feel technical, precise, and credible (something that could plausibly be engraved onto equipment) without leaning into overtly “tactical” or security-style tropes.

The Metak wordmark was custom drawn to resemble mechanically engraved lettering, based on the client’s requirement that it feel authentic to firearm manufacturing constraints. The /// symbol was designed to serve a dual purpose: functioning as an abstracted “M” while subtly referencing the grip slide of a pistol. A restrained palette of dark navy, gunmetal blue, and cool grey reinforced the industrial tone. I explored multiple concepts through sketches and refinements before arriving at the final direction, working closely with the client to ensure the mark aligned with both his vision and the realities of the industry.

Vatra Services, Metak’s subsidiary focused on decommissioning, required a logo that could stand on its own while still feeling part of the same brand family. I retained the mechanical typographic feel and introduced three flame marks to symbolize the destruction process, echoing the visual style of Metak’s /// icon. Warmer reds and yellow-oranges distinguished the brand while maintaining cohesion. Both identities were created in Adobe Illustrator and delivered for use across digital platforms, including web and email. The client has continued using the Metak logo for over a decade, citing its subtle symbolism and long-term versatility as key strengths.
